In the contemporary field Marianne has premiered numerous works including Pianto della Madonna (Paul Glass) in Lugano Cathedral, Lucciole o imperi? (Mario Pagliarani) in Angelicum Hall, Milan and the title role in the opera The Paean of Queen Ingeborg (Nils Holger Petersen) which toured Denmark. Since 1995 she has worked for the Theatre Cryptic Company on two productions for the Glasgow Mayfest and Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Here she held the roles of Diva and Lady Noire in Child-Lover and The Mother in the Quebecois Celle-la. The productions toured Scotland as well as Hungary and the Czech Republic. In November 2000, Marianne joined them again in a Samuel Beckett chamber opera called Something There. It was after hearing her with this company that The Independent critic wrote of her as "a superb soprano". Other operatic roles include Adina, Mimi (Opera Omnibus), Nora in Riders to the Sea (Brio Productions) and Belinda (Mayfield Chamber Opera). She sang in the chorus of Glyndebourne Festival Opera (GFO) during their 1999 season and covered the role of Servilia in La Clemenza di Tito with Glyndebourne Touring Opera. In 2000 Marianne worked with GFO in productions of the three da Ponte Mozart operas and Peter Grimes.
Marianne’s experience in Baroque music is extensive, she has performed with many of the leading established groups at the Proms and for Belgian, Israeli and Danish Radio. She is a regular oratorio soloist and recently performed Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with Bath Symphony Orchestra. In February 2000 she sang in a sell-out concert of Mozart’s Requiem at St Martin-in-the-Fields. As a recitalist she has sung for Classic FM and Danish radio (being half-Danish herself) in repertoire ranging from Dowland to Federico Garcia Lorca. Her solo recital in February at St John’s Smith Square was very successful. Since 1990 she has been a regular soloist for BBC Radio 2. TV credits include Kavanagh QC. She has recorded several discs of Twentieth century repertoire with the Finzi and the Ionian Singers. Her first solo CD of songs and arias by Handel and Purcell received the highest possible rating in Diapason. Further solo recordings have been planned, one of Romantic Scandinavian songs and one with contemporary European songs.
